Face Care

Date Posted | 21st Jan 2007

When cleansing make sure you are using a cleanser for your skin type recommended to you by a qualified beauty therapist. Not doing so can create unwanted problems like dehydration, skin sensitivity, redness and even blackheads. A skin diagnosis as offered by essential beauty is a sure fire way to make sure you get the right cleanser for your skin type.

Massaging the face whilst cleansing will increase product effectiveness through greater absorption of the product via increased blood flow. In turn this extra blood flow will help remove waste and toxins from the facial muscles. Bringing blood to the area will also bring oxygen and nutrients to the area giving the face a healthy glow. Always massage in firm, circular motions.

A deluxe deep cleanse facial at essential beauty will get you a deep cleanse as well as a soothing, relaxing one hour treatment. We can also show you in this treatment steps for massage at home helping you to retain that great fresh look to your skin.

The sun & your face

In Australia the greatest enemy to our skin is the sun. How many times have you met someone from an overseas cooler climate with great looking skin? The sun is not out as often to do its damage!

Sun block is an essential part of any skin care routine.
Beware of daily facial moisturisers with “in-built” sun blocks. They might be a daily moisturiser but chances are the sun block therein contained only lasts 2 or so hours. So you need to reapply according to your sun exposure.

A better alternative is a tinted sun protector such as skin solutions skin protector cream which contains pigments that reflect the suns rays. These continue to work until washed off. Book in for a free consultation for more information at an essential beauty store near you.

Top to Toe...

Date Posted | 10th March 2007

There’s nothing more unsightly than cracked, dry heels and chipped nail polish on feet!
Did you know that you can apply a fine layer of acrylic to your toe nails? Nail polish will not crack or peel off acrylic!

You can even apply a permanent French look to your nails (white tips) giving your nails that clean, fresh, healthy look.

Nail art can also be applied like flowers to toe nails which are fun and look great!
As for your heels we’ve got you covered with the best foot file in town! It has a rough side for calloused skin and a smoother side for buffing down afterwards. It also has a long handle making it easy to use!

But when all is said and done you can’t go past a professional pedicure! At essential beauty our pedicures include soaking, pushing back the cuticles, cleaning matter from under nails, exfoliation, removal of calloused heel skin, foot massage file and paint! It’s heavenly and you’ll float all the way home!

The eye's have it!

Date Posted | 10th April 2007

A great set of eyebrows can really frame the eyes and give the face a real lift!
But a lot of people don’t know that to get a good arch you need to remove hair from the top of the brow. Also, in some cases, people also need to cut some eyebrow hair rather than get rid of it entirely!

A lot of people I consult with are initially frightened by this concept because they have heard that you cannot do this. I ask “what is the difference between the hair at the top of an eyebrow as opposed to the hair at the bottom?” and the answer is nothing! Trimming hair from the top of an eyebrow shape will not make the hair grow faster (as these people think) as this is dependent on hair cycles, genetics and hormones rather than just trimming!

We recommend you come in first for a professional shape and then maintain this shape at home yourself. Thereafter you may need to come in from time to time as trimming can be difficult to do at home. Remember also to come in with a reasonable amount of hair as this will give the therapist something more to work with.

So remember that this urban legend of not being able to trim from the top of the brow really is nonsense. I have been waxing for over 15 years and if this weren't the case, there’d be a lot of scary looking people out there!!
