6 Simple Ways to Beat Stress

1. Breathe.Yes! Have you noticed that you tend to hold your breath when you’re stressed or when you have to absolutely ‘get-that-done-now’? Take a good deep breath and let it out slowly. If you wish, work out the kinks which are sure to be sitting on your shoulders by stretching your arms high over your head and rotating your shoulders.
2. Do What I Want Time. Set aside 15 minutes, it doesn’t have to be long, to do what you want to do. Better still, decide what you don’t want to do and say no to it.
3. Clarify your goals. Decide exactly what needs to be done, and plan a smart way of accomplishing each task. And indulge in feeling good when you’ve done it.
4. Give yourself a break. It’s ok to not do anything at all for 15 minutes or cancel a lunch date or miss a deadline now and then. In six months or 10 years, who will remember?
5. Girlfriend, get yourself a girlfriend. Never underestimate the value of a girlfriend, one who can keep confidences, even when you’re married with a dozen kids. Talk about what’s stressing you and that will automatically de-stress you.
6. Take five and count your blessings. Take the little time to wonder at little things, laugh and appreciate the good things around you.
