Detoxifying gives the body it a chance to flush out all the toxins that we’ve been subjecting it to over the course of time. The initial detox programme can perhaps be slightly more daunting and it does take about two to three weeks. After that, embark on a detox programme once say every six months for about a week.
A search on the internet will reveal numerous and possibly a confusing variety of programmes to follow, some with stricter guidelines than others. But the general rule of thumb is to eat healthy, drink plenty of water (Caffeinated drinks and alcohol do not count) and get plenty of rest.
Try going without coffee, black tea, soft drinks, alcohol, red meats, dairy products, starchy and processed foods like white bread and rice, amongst a myriad of other foodstuffs on supermarket shelves. But hey, if some do slip through, that’s ok.
Supplement your diet with super foods and liver cleansing foods and supplements such as spirulina, wheat grass, barley, milk thistle and multivitamins. And if all else fails, down a blend of beetroot, carrot, celery, apple and a tinge of ginger daily!
Increasing the blood circulation to flush toxins away from the skin is a commonly known fact but is strangely absent from most detox programmes. To maintain the overall good health of your body, regular exercise will strengthen your heart and give your skin that healthy glow by taking away the toxins through blood circulation and perspiration.
It’s not just about eating!
