How old do I need to be to get pierced?

Age requirements for ear and body piercing vary across states in Australia, follow the table below to find out if you meet the piercing age requirements. Every piercing client, regardless of age, must bring a form of photo identification to their appointment.

  • In all States, for genitalia and nipple piercing, the client must be 18 years of age and provide a photo ID.
  • In NSW, nipples can be pierced if the client is over 16 years of age and provides a photo ID.
Legal Guardians can also provide consent:

The legal guardian needs to produce a guardianship order/court order together with an ID of the child (birth certificate or passport) to confirm the child’s name is the same child named in the guardianship order.

The legal guardian needs to also provide photo ID to confirm they are the nominated legal guardian named on the guardianship order/court order.
