Waxing for Men

We believe in your wax, your way! Our salons specialise in male waxing services including eyebrows, chest, legs and more.

Men are choosing to get waxed over other hair removal methods, more than ever. No one wants the prickly regrowth and in-grown hairs from shaving. Waxing lasts longer, and is lest irritating for the skin.

Our salons are experienced in male waxing, this includes the eyebrows, ears, nose, back and shoulders, chest and stomach and legs. Many of our salons also offer a manzilian (male Brazilian wax).

Brow waxing for men

It’s more common than ever for men to get their eyebrows waxed. Our Therapists will tailor your service to your needs, with waxing and tweezing for a natural look. Our service also includes trimming any long hairs.

Why not add an eyebrow tint to your service? Conceal grey hairs, and create a fuller look.

What's included in a manzilian?

A manzilian wax is a male version of a Brazilian wax. This service can be tailored to suit you, leaving as little or as much hair as you like.

Hair is removed from the pubic area, including the sides, pubic bones, scrotum, and in-between the bottom. This service doesn’t include the bum cheek area, however can be added on.

This treatment isn’t available at all salons, please check the online booking system or give your local salon a call.

Popular waxing services for men

Men can be waxed on any part of the body. However, these are our most popular waxing services:

  • Manzilian
  • Eyebrows
  • Chest & stomach
  • Back & shoulders
  • Legs
  • Ear
  • Nostril
  • Underarm

How is this different to female waxing?

Our method for waxing is the same throughout no matter your gender, however men’s hair is typically coarser and thicker than females. This make result in a longer treatment, and difference in price.

Male waxing aftercare

The first 24-48 hours after your treatment, please avoid excessive heat, hot showers and strenuous exercise. Wear loose clothing to avoid irritation.

The week following your appointment, gently exfoliate your skin twice a week, and moisturise after every shower. Use IngroStopper to prevent any ingrown hairs from occurring.

For the best results, don’t shave or use any alternative hair removal methods prior to your next appointment.

How often should I get waxed?

As a general rule, we recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks, as this allows enough time for your hair to reach the length needed before being removed. However, everyone’s hair growth rate is different, so some people may find that they need to make their appointments closer together, which is totally normal!

You can discuss your hair growth and hair density with your Beauty Therapist at your appointment. They will be able to assist you in a routine for your next and on-going appointments.

Can I get waxed if I'm on medications?

Waxing can still be performed when taking most medications, however there are a few which need to be avoided as they thin the skin, making you more at risk of skin lift. These can include:

  • Accutane (Acne medication)
  • Adapalene (Acne medication)
  • Alustra (Retin A)
  • Avage (Acne medication)
  • Avita (Retin A)
  • Azelex (Peeling agent)
  • Clindamycin
  • Differin (Acne medication)
  • Doxycycline
  • Erythromycin
  • Isotretinoin (like Accutane)
  • Madifloxicine
  • Metronidazole
  • Prednisone
  • Renova (Retin A)
  • Retin A (Acne and Anti-aging medication)
  • Tazarac (Acne medication)
  • Tazarotene (Tazorac)
  • Tetracycline
  • Tretinoin (Retin A)

If you are unsure as to whether your current medication will prevent you from having waxing, please consult your Doctor before making an appointment.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

We recommend Ingrostopper ingrown hair treatment which removes dead skin cells, dirt and oils from the pore opening, and softens the hair follicle. This prevents the hairs from becoming trapped underneath the surface, resulting in red painful lumps. IngroStopper also conditions the skin and hairs, extending the life of your wax.

How will shaving affect my next wax?

If you have been a regular shaver, it may take a few appointments for your hair growth cycle to be in sync. This is because the hairs all over our body are constantly going through cycles of growth, rest and shedding.

After you’ve shaved, the hairs in the growing phase will grow out long enough to be waxed, however the hairs which were in the resting stage when you shaved will stay the same, close to the surface of the skin. The wax will only remove those growing hairs, and the resting hairs will begin to shed naturally. Your first wax will remove the majority of hair that’s grown above the skin. Because hairs grow in different cycles, hairs below the skin’s surface will now sprout above the skin.

After three to four waxes, all hairs should be growing in the same cycle, which means longer-lasting results! Consistency pays off!
