Microdermabrasion

Reveal brighter, smoother and more refined skin instantly with Microdermabrasion and Hydrodermabrasion!

Select your local salon to view microdermabrasion prices. Enjoy the instant effects of microdermabrasion or hydrodermabrasion at Essential Beauty. The daily use of moisturisers, sunscreen and makeup, combined with pollutants in the environment cause a build-up of product and dead skin, clogging your pores.

Deep mechanical exfoliation like microdermabrasion removes these impurities, resulting in improved skin texture and healthy, glowing skin!

Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types, and allows for optimum absorption of targeted Dalton Marine skincare recommended by your Skin Specialist.

How does microdermabrasion and hydrodermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion assists in skin rejuvenation by gently, yet thoroughly, exfoliating the upper layers of the skin where dead cells and impurities exist, called the stratum corneum.

Microdermabrasion is an advanced skin care exfoliation and rejuvenation treatment which gently polishes the skin through the use of a diamond tipped wand. The vacuum suction of the device removes dead skin cells, dirt and oils. The suction also stimulates blood flow to the area which improves collagen and elastin production, plumping the skin.

Hydrodermabrasion is another form of microdermabrasion, using pressurised water to break down dead skin cells instead of a diamond tip. Both treatments are non-invasive and have the same brightening and refining effect. Your Skin Specialist can assess your skin to decide which treatment is best for you.

Preparation and aftercare

Before:

Microdermabrasion requires little to no preparation.

  • We recommend that you don’t have any chemical or laser peels, filler or anti-wrinkle injections for two weeks prior to your treatment.
  • Topical skincare containing Retinol, Retin-A, Hydroquinone or Steroids must be stopped 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • If you are using prescribed medications such as Roaccutane or high-strength topical Vitamin A, your Skin Specialist will discuss alternative treatment options.
After:
  • Avoid facial waxing for one week after your treatment.
  • Using your prescribed Dalton Cleanser, Serum and Moisturiser post treatment will protect against free radicals. They will also help to purify, soften and hydrate your skin, enhancing your results.
  • Avoid using skincare products that contain AHAs, Retinol or exfoliating agents for 1-week post treatment.
  • We recommend the Dalton Sun Care sunscreen UVA/UVB Protection cream SPF 50+ after all facial treatments to prevent photoaging by avoiding direct sun exposure.

How do I maximise the benefits of my skin treatments?

We can go to the gym as much as possible but if we are not feeding our bodies correctly, we won’t see the results we want. It’s the same with our skin! If you are coming in for professional treatments and not using good homecare the results will fade much quicker! Dalton skincare is designed with Marine active ingredients which help with cell turnover, regeneration and balance, all of which help give our skin that glowing ‘post treatment’ feeling.

What skin concerns will benefit from microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types and all ages, and allows for optimum absorption of targeted Dalton Marine skincare recommended by your Skin Specialist. Microdermabrasion is not only an excellent maintenance treatment for normal skin to remove impurities, it is also a fantastic non-invasive treatment option for acne prone skins, and can help fight the signs of premature ageing.

The following skin concerns can benefit from microdermabrasion:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores, blackheads and whiteheads
  • Congested skin
  • Mild acne and acne scars
  • Dull-looking skin complexion
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Sun damage
What aftercare products do I need?

A good quality SPF is key to prolonging the results of your professional treatments, as sun damage is the leading cause of premature ageing. Dalton’s Sun Care UV-Protection Cream UVA/UVB SPF 50+ provides broad spectrum sun protection. Infused with spirulina algae, it also nourishes the skin with antioxidants like Vitamin E and B12 to promote cell renewal.

Alongside daily SPF, your prescribed Dalton skincare products work in synergy to keep your skin feeling fresh and bright in between treatments!

Does microdermabrasion hurt?

Not at all. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin treatment with little to no downtime. A light suctioning on the skin is all that is felt throughout your facial.

Microdermabrasion won’t damage your skin’s surface. Sensitive skins may have some redness for about an hour after treatment, but you can get on with your day as usual.
