Eye Enhancements

Tinting is the fastest way to give your face an instant lift.

Your lashes will look longer and fuller and your eyebrows will look fuller and longer with more defined arches.

Our trained therapists use a range of tints developed in Germany that have been dermatologically tested and created exclusively for eyelash and eyebrow hair.

You’ll get a natural looking, long wearing result – plus more time and freedom in the mornings!

Why eyelash or eyebrow tinting…?

  • You want to wake up looking fresh and youthful.
  • You don’t want to fuss with makeup pencils and mascara.
  • You want to add fullness or definition to your eyebrows and eyelashes.
  • You want to cover grey, white or sun bleached hairs.
  • You want to regain the eyebrow definition you once had.
  • You want to open up your eyes with eyelash tinting.
  • You want fuller, thicker looking eyebrows.
  • You want to feel more confident.
  • You want sweat-proof, moisture-proof colour for your holiday.

Do…

  • Have an idea about the colour you would like. Most people – even if they are blonde – choose Blue Black, the darkest colour for the eyelashes. For a more natural, subtle look, your therapist can mix black and a natural brown.
  • If you’re pregnant or prone to allergic reactions, ask for a patch test first. Although tinting is generally completely safe, it’s good to test before any treatment.

Don’t…

  • Wear your contact lenses to the treatment and wait until the next day before wearing them again.

Do…

  • Try to keep your eyes closed during eyelash tinting to avoid stinging.

Don’t…

  • Open your eyes during eyelash tinting – this could make them sting.

What happens during eyelash and eyebrow tinting…?

  • Your therapist will consider if a patch test is needed. If you have never had a tint before or you are prone to allergic reactions and eczema, she will advise you to do a patch test.
  • Your therapist will discuss your colour choice with you. It’s best to stay subtle if you’re unsure. You can always make another appointment and go darker, but you can’t lighten your lashes and will have to wait 4-6 weeks for the colour to fade.
  • Your therapist can mix a customised colour for you. For your eyebrows, she can also use a darker colour at the very front, a lighter tone in the middle where there are more hairs, and darker again on the arch and ends to give a more textured natural look.
  • Your therapist may place Vaseline around the area to protect your skin from the tint. Some therapists may miss this step.
  • If you’re having an eyelash tint, your therapist will place protective pads under your bottom eyelashes.
  • You’ll be asked to close your eyes and relax while the tint is applied.
  • Your therapist will leave the tint on for 10-15 minutes depending on the colour and thickness of your eyelashes and eyebrows. If you have grey or white hairs, the tint may need to be left on longer.
  • Your therapist will use wet cotton pads to wipe the tint from your lashes or eyebrows.
  • If you’re having your eyelashes tinted, there’s an extra step. You’ll be asked to keep your eyes closed and tilt your head to one side. Your therapist will then remove any remaining tint by flushing it with water.
  • Your therapist will massage eye cream into your skin, then you’ll be asked to check your eyelash or eyebrow tinting.

If you feel one of these steps has been missed or hasn’t been done well, please stop your therapist and let her know. When you work together with your therapist, you will get the best possible results.

Do…

  • Apply sunblock to your eyebrows and wear sunglasses if you are in direct sunlight The sun will cause your tint to fade faster.

Don’t…

  • Rub your eyes straight after the procedure.
  • Wear mascara or contact lenses for 12 hours.
  • Go swimming for 24 hours.
  • Use products that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or oil based or perfumed products. They can shorten the life of your tint.

What happens next…?

  • If you also want to have an eyebrow shape, get it done after your tint, as the enhanced colour will help to show up any flaws in your original shape.
  • Your eyelash tint will last up to 6 weeks; your eyebrow tint will last for 2-4 weeks.
  • You can maintain your fresh, youthful look with regular tinting.

  • Look at the way your natural lashes curve. If you have straight lashes, we recommend you have a lash perm 2 days before your eyelash extensions are applied.
  • Also look at your natural eyelash colour compared with the extensions. If your eyelashes are light, we recommend an eyelash tint 2 days before your eyelash extensions are applied.
  • If this is the first time you are having eyelash extensions, consider applying less to start with. It can take a while to get used to the feeling of weight on your eyelids.

  • Your therapist will dry your lashes using a small fan or adhesive dryer.
  • Your therapist will dim the lights and place micro-porous tape on your bottom lashes to protect them from the glue.
  • When you close your eyes, they should feel comfortable. If they don’t, ask your therapist to re-adjust the tape. This is important as once the application starts, it can get messy and time consuming to do re-adjustments.
  • Your therapist will also place micro-porous tape on your top lid, pulling it slightly open to make sure the glue doesn’t stick to your bottom lashes.
  • Your therapist will apply the lashes one by one to your own eyelashes. You will feel the lashes being separated then the weight of the eyelash extension. Finally, you will feel a light breeze of air as the therapist dries the glue briefly before the same process is repeated over and over to the existing lashes.
  • You will be asked to check your new lashes before you leave.

  • When your natural lash is shed, your synthetic lash will fall out with it. You could lose several lashes and extensions on a single day – this happens as your lashes naturally fall out and it’s perfectly normal.
  • You can have a touch up application every 2-4 weeks to maintain your new fuller lash line. These take less time – around 15-45 minutes, depending on the amount of lashes.

You’re probably thinking – what is eyebrow threading and why do it?

Threading is an eyebrow shaping and facial hair removal technique that’s been very popular in Indian, Arabic and Persian cultures for centuries. It’s sometimes used as a rite of passage. For example, Persian women would thread the bride before getting married as a symbol of entry into womanhood. You’ll find that compared with waxing, it’s a very gentle and precise way of removing entire rows of hair in one movement giving a straighter line overall.

However, waxing is still the preferred way to remove hair from larger parts of the body, such as legs and arms. Our trained therapists will quickly and gently help you to look your best using threading or waxing.

Why undergo eyebrow and facial threading…?

  • You want to achieve your ideal eyebrow shape.
  • You have sensitive skin and want a gentle hair removal technique that has minimal interaction with your skin.
  • You want to achieve a hair free face in minutes.
  • You want fewer ingrown hairs.
  • You want to remove very fine hairs, as well as thicker, stubborn hairs.

Do…

  • Have an idea as to what you want to achieve. Threading can be used to raise the arch of the eyebrow or to add shape and definition to the eyebrow. With threading, eyebrow shapes can be created just like you can with waxing.
  • If you are having threading as a form of gentle hair removal, decide which areas you’d like done. These include the sides of the face, lip and chin.

Don’t…

  • Apply moisturiser to the area on the day you have threading.
  • Exfoliate on the day of your threading as this makes your skin sensitive and could cause inflammation.
  • Exercise one hour before your treatment.

What happens during eyebrow threading…?

  • You will discuss with your therapist what you would like to achieve.
  • Your therapist will use a brand new piece of threaded cotton every time. This ensures the procedure is safe and hygienic.
  • Your therapist will roll a thin piece of double strand, twisted cotton thread over the area, effectively plucking at the hair level until all the hair is gone.
  • Your therapist will ask you to check in the mirror to make sure you’re happy with your eyebrow shape or with your hair removal.

If you feel one of these steps has been missed or hasn’t been done well during the procedure, please stop your therapist and let her know. When you work together with your therapist, you will get the best possible results.

Repeat visits after three to four weeks are standard for eyebrow threading and for the upkeep of your eyebrow shape.
