Eyebrow & Eyelash Tinting Questions – Answered!

Brows and Lashes Updated July 21, 2022
Have you ever thought about getting your eyebrows or eyelashes tinted professionally? Well you’re in the right place! We asked one of our Beauty Therapists to gather a list of the most frequently asked questions about tinting and these are the answers.
Eyebrow and eyelash tinting are some of our most popular services, and for good reason. Tinting is an easy add on to your next eyebrow waxing service, or lash lift and will boost your results dramatically.

What is Eyebrow Tinting?

Eyebrow tinting is the process of dying your eyebrow hairs to make them darker or look more even. Eyebrow tinting helps to fill in gaps, or add colour to lighter hairs in your brows. It is common to have fair, sparse hairs that will impact achieving your best brow shape. You can also use tinting to cover grey hairs on the brow, which results in a youthful appearance.
Your Beauty Therapist will work with you to select a shade of tint. Tinting makes your eyebrows appear fuller, thicker and improve your shape and arch. Our eyebrow tints come in many different colours – so don’t worry about them being too dark.
You can add an eyebrow tint service to your next eyebrow wax for amazing results. Getting your eyebrows tinted professionally is safer and more effective than tinting them at home.

What is Eyelash Tinting?

Eyelash tinting makes your natural eyelashes darker, resulting in lashes looking fuller and thicker. Our most popular colour for a dramatic mascara effect is blue-black. This colour makes it look like you’re wearing mascara and makes your eyes pop!
If you have naturally light lashes, you’ll see a noticeable difference with our eyelash tint. Even with dark eyelashes, they’ll appear thicker and longer than usual. This is because lashes are usually lighter in colour towards the tips.
Expert Tip:

Try out your eyelash tint with a lash lift to make your eyelashes stay curled up all day, you will love the amazing results!

What are Henna Brows?

Henna brow colour is a naturally derived tint, this method will stain the hairs as well as the skin beneath the brow hairs. Henna will coat the hairs, creating the look of thicker hair. Whereas, the traditional salon tint makes the hair darker by breaking down the hair and penetrating colour in the hair follicles.

How do I prepare for an eyebrow tint?

The prep for an eyebrow and eyelash tint is pretty easy! Simply, go to your appointment with no makeup, or products on the skin for best results. You can book a tint with your service in the Lash & Brows section of our online booking system.

How do I look after my eyebrow tint?

Skincare products containing AHAs and BHAs can cause your tint to fade more quickly. We recommend cream-based cleansers and make-up removers, as oil-based products can cause tints to fade faster. We recommend the Dalton Comfort Clean Milk as a gentle and nourishing option. It not only looks after the delicate dry skin around the eyes, but it also conditions the lashes and brows.
Avoid sun exposure, saltwater and chlorine to extend the life of your tint. Use a non-greasy SPF 50+ sunscreen like the Dalton Sun Care Protection Cream, to shield your brow tint from harsh sunrays.

How long will my tinting results last?

Eyebrow tinting lasts about 2-3 weeks for most people (darker colours last longest). Professional eyelash tinting colours your natural eyelashes for up to 4 weeks.
Henna brow tint skin stain can last anywhere from 4 days to 3 weeks on the skin, but will still give your hairs a great colour for about 2-3 weeks. The length of time henna tinting lasts differs from person to person and is dependent on how your skin holds the dye stain.
