Spray Tanning with Essential Beauty

Select your local salon to view spray tan prices. Avoid the sunโ€™s harmful UVA/UVB rays and achieve a natural-looking tan with an Essential Beauty spray tan. Say goodbye to orange tans and streaking. Our exclusive spray tan gives you a beautiful airbrush finish. Choose from medium, dark or express.

Our Australian made spray tan formula contains added ingredients such as aloe vera, guarana, Vitamin C and Vitamin E, all to give added hydration to the skin. This formula is cruelty-free and vegan, and has a raspberry and almond scent.

24-48 hours before:
  • If you need to shave or wax before your tan, do this 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. Waxing is the best option for preparing for a spray tan, as you will be hair free for the life of your tan. Shaving frequently after your spray tan will cause it to fade faster.
  • Moisturise heavily.
Day before:
  • Moisturise heavily, doing this in the days prior to your spray tan will ensure your skin is hydrated. Spray tan likes to stick to rough, dry skin, so failing to prepare for a spray tan could cause patchy results.
  • Shower and thoroughly exfoliate your body to remove dead skin cells and colour build-up from your last spray tan. Doing this the day before will give your pores enough time to close.
  • While exfoliating, pay extra attention to dry areas like your knees and elbows.
  • If this is your last shower before your appointment, do not apply any moisturiser, deodorant or perfume, as this will interfere with your results.
On the day:
  • Make sure you have not applied deodorant, body lotion, perfume or moisturisers after your last shower.
  • Wear loose, dark clothing, and easy to remove footwear such as thongs or slides to your appointment.
  • You can wear your underwear during your tan. You can either ask your Beauty Therapist for a disposable G-string, or wear nothing at all. Itโ€™s entirely up to you!
When to shower following your tan:

Follow the Wash & Wear Guide to achieve your desired colour for your skin tone and schedule.

Wash & Wear Guide:

Choose from our medium, dark or express solutions. Depending on your desired colour and your schedule, your Beauty Therapist will recommend a tan solution for you.

Double Spray:

If you are wanting an ultra dark tan, or have found tan solutions havenโ€™t developed as dark as you were wanting in the past, ask your Beauty Therapist about a double spray! Two light sprays of tan will saturate your skin to provide a deeper tan, without risking your tan running or building up in certain areas.

Half Body Spray Tan:

Do you want a tan for an event coming up, but your outfit covers a lot of skin? No problem! Our lower or upper body tans are the perfect solution. They provide a sun kissed glow to the areas which will be on show, and nobody will ever know about the rest.

Things to do for a longer lasting tan:
  • Wear loose, dark clothing for the rest of the day after your tan appointment. Tight clothes can cause parts of your tan to rub off or cause tan lines.
  • Follow the Wash & Wear Guide to achieve your desired colour. For your first shower following your spray tan appointment, itโ€™s best to shower in warm water. Avoid shower gels that can leave a moisturising residue or oily feeling on the skin, and also avoid any products that contain exfoliants. Basic, natural products are best.
  • When you hop out of the shower, pat your skin dry with a towel lightly, rather than rubbing. This way, you wonโ€™t cause parts of your tan to rub off.
  • Moisturise twice daily to prolong your tan and keep your skin as moisturised as possible. Continue to wear SPF, as having a tan does not protect you from sunburn. We recommend Dalton Sun Care sunscreen UVA/UVB Protection Cream SPF 50+ and the Dalton Natural Correcteur Body Emulsion enriched with Vitamin A, C and E for soft skin.
Things to avoid for a longer lasting tan:
  • Do not shower, get wet or exercise for at least 2 hours for express tan, or 6 hours after your dark, medium or light spray tan.
  • Avoid soaking in the bath for long periods of time.
  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools for extended periods of time.
  • Avoid scheduling your manicure, pedicure, waxing or facial appointments after your tan, as these treatments will exfoliate and remove colour from your skin.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Have questions? We have the answers on all things waxing, piercing, eyebrows & beauty!

Not everyone is a candidate for laser or IPL hair reduction. The light that both methods emit is attracted to the dark pigment in the hair, which creates a targeted heat reaction, successfully โ€˜killingโ€™ those hairs.

Blonde, grey or red hair does not contain the same amount of pigment, which means the heat reaction cannot be created. Skin colour can also be a factor in laser or IPL hair removal. The darker your skin tone, the more melanin (or pigment) you have. This means the laser cannot be targeted directly into the hair follicle, as it cannot differentiate between that pigment and the melanin in your skin.  Your Beauty Therapist will assess your skin colour and tone, and can advise of a treatment plan or alternative hair removal methods.

No, laser or IPL cannot be used over any tattoos. The light from the laser will be attracted to the pigment in the ink and can cause the tattoo to fade, smudge, or in some cases, burn the skin. Waxing is safe to perform over tattoos.

As a general rule, 8-10 sessions of hair removal, followed by biannual or yearly maintenance visits will be all you will need. However, each individualโ€™s hair growth is different, so we cannot guarantee the amount of treatments needed.

Depending on your hair density and area being treated, the time between sessions will vary. Generally, the time between treatments is 4-6 weeks. Your Beauty Therapist will give you an accurate treatment plan during your consultation.
