Do nipple piercings affect breastfeeding?
It is unlikely that nipple piercings will affect breastfeeding in the future. As long as the piercing is fully healed and there is no infection or keloid scarring in the area there shouldn’t be a problem with breastfeeding. It is important to note that you should remove nipple jewellery before breastfeeding your baby.
What piercings can you get at 16 without parental consent?
If you are over 16 in Australia you can have any part of your ear pierced without parental consent, including tragus, helix, industrial conch, daith and more. Plus, if you’re in South Australia, Victoria or New South Wales not only can you have parts of the ear pierced, but you can also get a nose piercing, septum, belly, eyebrow or lip piercing.
In Queensland, you won’t need to wait to get pierced, you can get most piercings at any age. Read the full list of piercing age and consent requirements.
Do I take out jewellery to clean my piercing?
You should not remove your body jewellery for any amount of time while your piercing is still healing. You do not need to remove the jewellery in your piercing to clean it as this may irritate the area and allow harmful bacteria to enter, not to mention that your piercing will start to close immediately. To clean your piercing, spray front and back for the directed periods of time on the bottle, and spray directly over the piercing and jewellery.
Can I have my child's ears pierced with the needle method?
If you would prefer the needle method of piercing for your child’s earlobes, this is a service selected Essential Beauty salons offer for an additional cost.
There are benefits to both piercing methods. Essential Beauty promotes our Needle Free Sterilear Push Through System over needle piercing for young children and babies. This is because it is a faster method, creating an easier experience for your child’s first piercing. Our Needle Free System is contactless; sterilised jewellery is very quickly inserted into the ear lobe via our push through hand piece.
This is comparative to our needle piercing method. This method takes longer because the piercing needs to be done first, leaving a plastic sheath in the ear that the jewellery is then threaded through. Not all children and babies can sit still long enough for this to occur quickly.
The benefit to needle piercings is having the option of getting pierced with a ring put in from the start. Rings can promote faster healing and is also easier for parents to clean, some parents may have difficulty cleaning behind the large butterfly backings on their children’s earrings. Rings are also comfortable for babies and small children to sleep in as the jewellery does not have any obstructions.

What products should I use for piercing aftercare?

What do I do if my piercing jewellery falls out?
If you aren’t able to get the jewellery back in by yourself, go back to the salon you were pierced at as soon as possible. If the piercing hole hasn’t closed over, your Piercer will be able to reopen your piercing and reinsert your jewellery. It is our policy that if your piercing falls out within 24 hours we will re-pierce it for free at the same salon that you had the piercing service performed.
It is unlikely that your piercing jewellery will fall out, but it does occur sometimes with nose studs (especially while sleeping or getting dressed). If your piercing is new – less than 12 months, the hole can close up in a matter of minutes or even seconds. If you’ve had a nose piercing for less than a year, you can expect it to close up or the piercing to shrink significantly within a few hours or days.
If piercing jewellery purchased in-salon is lost or goes missing from the piercing location within 5 days of the piercing service, the salon will replace the item free of charge (At Essential Beauty’s discretion with proof of purchase). Please note that you must return to the original piercing salon location for assessment. Exchanges for lost jewellery must be for the same style or an item of equal value.
How much does it cost to get your ears pierced?
Ear lobe piercings are the most common piercings to get. The price of getting your ears pierced varies due to whether you’re getting pierced using our Needle Free System (common for children) or single use piercing needles. The cost of ear lobe piercing ranges from approximately $45 – $80, which includes Titanium PVD in gold, rose gold, black and hypoallergenic surgical steel, to confirm please check out our online booking system.
Children’s Double Operator Ear Piercing with our Needle Free Sterilear Push Through System may vary depending on the salon and is best to call your local salon to check. All children’s double operator ear piercings includes jewellery and Ted the Comfort Bear! Piercings performed with needle cost more than Sterilear push through system piercings. Do you have Afterpay?
Afterpay is a service that allows you to make purchases now and pay for them in four payments made every 2 weeks without any interest. Afterpay is now available in many Essential Beauty salons. In salons where Afterpay is available you can use it with any of our services (piercing, waxing and other beauty services) or product purchases (please call your local salon to find out if Afterpay is available). Afterpay is also available on our online shop.
Do you use numbing cream for children’s piercing?
We do not administer numbing cream for piercings as it can irritate the skin and become inflamed due to allergies which can affect the piercing. As the piercing is going through the ear, topical numbing cream will not numb the ear all the way through.
The piercing procedure itself is over in seconds, and most people say there is no pain. Children often cry or get scared when they become overwhelmed during the buildup before the piercing.
When can I change my child’s jewellery?
It is best to leave the initial piercing jewellery in until the initial healing period has passed. The average healing time for ear lobes is 6-8 weeks, this is a guide and may vary between each individual. We have such a huge range of different colours and styles available for Children’s Ear Piercing! It is important that you do not change jewellery before this period of time has passed, it is important to note that lobe piercings can take even longer to heal in some instances and it’s always best to check with a piercer in salon if you’re unsure.
If you are confident that the piercing has healed enough to change the jewellery over, it is important that you do not leave jewellery out of the piercing for long periods of time as the piercing can start to close almost immediately after the jewellery has been removed.

How long before my child can swim after getting their ears pierced?
Summer holidays are a popular time to get your child’s ears pierced. However, we recommend that your child steers clear from any swimming pools or the beach for the first 2 weeks after getting their ears pierced, to prevent bacteria from entering the new piercing.
If your child must go swimming, cover the piercing with a waterproof Band-Aid and spray the area with Sterilear Step 1: Clean afterwards to clean the piercing.
Is the Needle Free Sterilear Push Through System safe?
Yes, our Needle Free Sterilear Push Through System is safe to use for piercing the ear lobes. The Sterilear Contactless Push-Through System is contactless, meaning at no point does the device come into contact with your child’s ears. Needle piercing is an option if you prefer. Have a chat to our Piercing Specialists about your options and make the choice that’s right for you and your child!
How old does my child need to be before getting their ears pierced?
We recommend waiting until your child is at least 6 weeks old before getting their ears pierced, however, this does depend on the shape and size of your baby’s ears. If you are unsure if your child’s ears are ready to be pierced, we recommend asking one of our experienced Piercing Specialists in salon. There is no right age to get your child’s ears pierced, the right time is whenever you feel that they’re ready!
To book in for a Children’s Ear Piercing appointment, you will need to call the local salon to secure an appointment. Unfortunately, we are unable to book this appointment online.
Do you offer genital piercings?
We offer the following female intimate piercings: VCH (vertical clitoral hood), HCH (horizontal clitoral hood), Christina (the mons pubis to the front of the vulva). Some of our salons also offer male intimate piercings such as Prince Albert Piercings. As these are specialised piercings, it is best to give your local salon a call to find out if a piercer is available with experience in these areas.
Can I bring in my own jewellery to get pierced?
We strictly pierce with autoclave sterilised jewellery; this is why we cannot pierce you with jewellery you already own and bring in. It is also impossible for us to determine the quality of the materials used in the jewellery, and therefore, it may not be safe for us to use your own jewellery for initial piercings.

What do I do if my piercing has a bump on it?
Piercing bumps can pop up at any time and can occur due to any number of things that can irritate and aggravate your piercing, the most common being touching or playing with jewellery.
- Ask one of our Piercing Specialists to change your jewellery to Titanium (nickel-free), cobalt-chrome (nickel-free, or Bioplast (nickel-free, medical grade plastic).
- Reduce knocking or bumping your piercing.
- Avoid excessive cleansing and continue using Sterilear Step 2: Care.
- Use Bump Discs which provide pressure and help reduce inflammation.
- Use our Calm – Piercing Bump Treatment Dots on your piercing bump to help reduce redness and swelling. Plus, we have a great range of Bump Dots to treat pimples, blemishes, ingrown hairs and any other fluid-filled bumps on the skin as they draw out any fluid or moisture.

Can I get pierced with invisible or clear jewellery?
Most piercings can be done using our Bioplast jewellery. For a more discreate look our medical grade jewellery is a great option for those who have metal sensitivities and nickel allergies. Many clients find that Bioplast helps reduce swelling and promotes faster healing during the initial stages of their piercing journey.
We recommend giving your local salon a call to confirm if this option is available for your piercing of choice.
Can I get pierced with a ring?
Yes, we can pierce you with a ring in most areas. Labret bars are commonly used for cartilage piercings on the ear, and pigtail studs for the nose. However, it is possible to get pierced with a ring in your cartilage or nose straight away! Other popular areas to have pierced with rings are the nipple, conch, lip, eyebrow and navel/belly.
Getting pierced with a ring is considered a jewellery upgrade, we recommend discussing your options with your Beauty Therapist!
Is jewellery included in the price of the piercing?
When can I change my jewellery after getting pierced?
You can change your jewellery after the recommended initial healing time has passed, and you feel that your piercing has fully healed. If you are unsure, pop into your local Essential Beauty & Piercing salon and chat with one of our staff members.
When you’re ready for a jewellery changeover come and visit us in salon! We have a wide range of custom body jewellery available in a variety of different colours, designs and metals. Changing your own body jewellery can be tricky. If you purchase jewellery in salon or via our online shop, we are happy to change it over for you at no cost!
How many piercings can I get in one session?

How long will my piercing take to heal?
Healing time is different depending on the part of your body that you get pierced, it may take up to 24 months. Areas that are softer, with no cartilage, such as ear lobes, will heal faster than other areas. Healing times can vary from person to person and will also depend on how well you follow our recommended aftercare instructions. Any piercing can take up to a year or even longer to heal. After these recommended time frames, you may be ready to change over your piercing jewellery:
After the times listed above, you may be able to remove your jewellery for a short time. However, your piercing may begin to shrink. We cannot give you an exact time for how long you can remove your jewellery before it becomes difficult to reinsert. This varies between people. Just remember – never force jewellery into a piercing that has shrunk. If you have any questions, please visit the piercing experts at your local Essential Beauty & Piercing salon.

Does it hurt to get pierced?
Piercings can hurt, depending on the area you’re having pierced. Fortunately, the piercing itself is over very quickly, and most of our clients tell us there is little, to no pain and or that it feels like a little pinch or flick.
Common piercing areas, like ear lobes, are low in pain because there is no cartilage present. Areas with tougher cartilage can be a little more painful, but it’s over in seconds! Trust us, it’s nothing you can’t handle!
Our Piercing Specialists are always refining their techniques to make you as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. If you’re nervous about your piercing, try to relax and remain calm by focusing on your breathing – in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Can I go swimming with a new piercing?
For piercings to heal it is important that the area remains clean, dry, and away from areas that may transfer bacteria. We recommend avoiding swimming for the first two weeks after a new piercing. If you must go swimming, we suggest covering your new piercing with a waterproof band-aid (be mindful of your jewellery!). We also recommend that you spray the piercing with Sterilear Step 1: Clean after leaving the water and removing the band-aid.
Can I come in to change my jewellery over?
Yes, you absolutely can! If you purchase jewellery within any of our salons, we can change your jewellery over free of charge. However, if you bring jewellery yourself there is a small fee that comes with the jewellery change over.

Can I come in to get my jewellery removed?
If your piercing is infected, sore to touch or you simply want your jewellery taken out, we can help to remove it for you!

Why has my jewellery tarnished or changed colour?
Our jewellery is waterproof and will not naturally discolour. However, it is not chemical proof. Certain skincare products, medications, or even individual skin types can sometimes cause jewellery to tarnish or change colour.
Possible causes include:
- Skincare or cleaning products: Shampoos, cleansers, exfoliants, or moisturisers containing skin-thinning ingredients can affect your jewellery.
- Skin-thinning ingredients – Common examples include:
- AHA / BHA
- Glycolic Acid / Salicylic Acid
- Vitamin A
- Cortisone Cream
- Antibiotics (e.g., Doxycycline, Clindamycin, Erythromycin)
- Acne medications (e.g., Accutane, Adapalene, Differin, Tretinoin, Isotretinoin, Tazarotene)
- High skin acidity: Natural oils and acidic sweat can accelerate a chemical reaction called oxidation. This can cause metals like copper or nickel (found in some alloys) to tarnish and transfer colour onto the skin.

Waxing
What is a Brazilian wax?
A Brazilian wax removes all hair from the pubic bone, bikini line, labia, anus and in between the bottom, basically any hair down there. You will be completely hair free with a full Brazilian wax. If you prefer the look of a little bit of hair left behind on the pubic bone, we offer a Brazilian – Your Way where you can ask for a landing strip or triangle shape to be left behind, while still removing all other hair.
What do I do at my first Brazilian wax?
Your Beauty Therapist will give you time to prepare in the treatment room. You will be supplied with a personal hygiene wipe to wipe front to back, and a disposable G-string.
What's best? Waxing or tweezing?
Waxing is precise and effective hair removal method, our Sensitive Hot Wax is developed to be gentle on the eye area to reduce redness.
Tweezing can give a less defined result, this method may also miss the finer hairs you can’t see. However, it can be a great option if you are unable to be waxed due to medications. Your therapist may also recommend tweezing to get your perfect shape.
How often should I get my eyebrows waxed?
To upkeep the perfect brows, it’s important to stay with a consistent schedule based on your hair growth. This could be as regular as 2 weeks, or even once a month. Discuss this with your Beauty Therapist to develop the right schedule for you!
Do you offer eyebrow waxing for men?
No matter your gender – if you have eyebrows, we’ll wax them! Our Beauty Therapists will walk you through the consultation in salon. You can discuss with your Therapist what you’d like done, you can get take off as little or as much hair as you’d like (just removing your monobrow is completely fine!).

How long does face waxing last?
Face waxing will leave you feeling silky smooth for 2 to 3 weeks before you begin to see regrowth. As your hair was ripped out from the root, your hair will grow back fine and tapered on the ends – not like sharp stubble caused by other forms of hair removal such as shaving or dermaplaning. As you wax your face more regularly, the amount and density of hair decreases.
Does face waxing hurt?
You might experience a little discomfort which is normal, especially for your first time facial waxing. However, it will hurt less and less every time you come to visit us.
The skin on your face is more sensitive than other areas, so you may experience some slight sensitivity. If you experience extreme sensitivity, chat with your Beauty Therapist.
If you’re worried about pain and sensitivity, try our specially formulated Sensitive Hot Wax, made to be gentle on the skin, but effective in removing unwanted hair.
Is it normal to have excess facial hair?
All women have facial and body hair. Facial and body hair can range from fine, light in colour hairs, to darker more stubborn hairs. Never be embarrassed by your individual circumstances. It is totally normal to have unwanted hair on your face.
For females, hair growth, including facial hair, is impacted by distinct hormonal changes. Hormonal changes are triggered by puberty, pregnancy, menopause, or other medical conditions such as PCOS. Shifts in hormone levels can change the level of your hair growth.

Will face waxing make me break out?
When you get a wax, some of your skin on the surface gets removed, meaning your pores are left exposed. This is why some people are prone to breakouts and pimples. Therefore, it is important to not touch your face after face waxing. Keep your skin clean and free of any bacteria that can enter your open pores. Following our recommended waxing preparation and aftercare will help keep your skin silky smooth and bump free!
We recommend our Soothe Hydrating & Cooling Serum to relieve and replenish sensitive skin from waxing. Soothe is safe to use on the face as a daily serum, particularly if you are prone to breakouts. Soothe will help to balance oil production and protect your skin’s barrier.
Can I leave my underwear on during my bikini wax?
Yes, you can, but you will need to work with your Beauty Therapist during your treatment to support the skin and remove all unwanted hair. We offer a disposable G-string for all bikini and Brazilian waxing services for modesty and to help support the skin.
Can I get waxed during my period?
You can be waxed during your period, however where possible, we recommend waiting until your cycle is finished. Waxing on your period can be more painful as the area is sensitive, and skin recovery is likely to take longer. If you choose to be waxed on your period, in order to successfully complete the service, you will need to wear a tampon or menstrual cup.
How old do I need to be to get a Brazilian wax?
For Bikini line & G-string waxing we have no age requirements. However, for Brazilian waxing you must be over 16 years of age. Our Beauty Therapists are trained to ensure everyone is comfortable throughout the entire waxing experience.
How can I prevent ingrown hairs?
We recommend Ingrostopper ingrown hair treatment which removes dead skin cells, dirt and oils from the pore opening, and softens the hair follicle. This prevents the hairs from becoming trapped underneath the surface, resulting in red painful lumps. IngroStopper also conditions the skin and hairs, extending the life of your wax.
Is bikini waxing safe during pregnancy?
Yes, it is. However, there is an increased blood flow to the area during pregnancy which can make the skin more sensitive, so we recommend asking for our Sensitive Hot Wax. If you are unsure if waxing while pregnant is right for you, we suggest checking with your doctor first!
Does a Brazilian Wax hurt?
No form of waxing hair removal is ever 100% pain free! Our Beauty Therapists are all qualified and trained professionals who specialise in making your waxing experience as comfortable as possible. The results are well worth it!

How old do I need to be to get waxed?
You can get waxed at any age as there are no age restrictions. You can get waxed when you feel you are ready and comfortable. For first time hair removal, waxing is the best option when compared to shaving. If you are under 16, please chat with a parent or guardian before booking your wax appointment, especially for our Brazilian and Bikini styles.
How often should I get waxed?
As a general rule, we recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks, as this allows enough time for your hair to reach the length needed before being removed. However, everyone’s hair growth rate is different, so some people may find that they need to make their appointments closer together, which is totally normal!
You can discuss your hair growth and hair density with your Beauty Therapist at your appointment. They will be able to assist you in a routine for your next and on-going appointments.
Can I get waxed if I'm on medications?
Waxing can still be performed when taking most medications, however there are a few which need to be avoided as they thin the skin, making you more at risk of skin lift. These can include:

- Azelex (Peeling agent)

How will shaving affect my next wax?
If you have been a regular shaver, it may take a few appointments for your hair growth cycle to be in sync. This is because the hairs all over our body are constantly going through cycles of growth, rest and shedding.
After you’ve shaved, the hairs in the growing phase will grow out long enough to be waxed, however the hairs which were in the resting stage when you shaved will stay the same, close to the surface of the skin. The wax will only remove those growing hairs, and the resting hairs will begin to shed naturally. Your first wax will remove the majority of hair that’s grown above the skin. Because hairs grow in different cycles, hairs below the skin’s surface will now sprout above the skin.
After three to four waxes, all hairs should be growing in the same cycle, which means longer-lasting results! Consistency pays off!

What are the benefits of face waxing?
Face waxing leaves your skin silky and smooth for 2-3 weeks! By removing thick, stubborn growth and all the fine vellus hairs (peach fuzz), it makes the perfect blank canvas for makeup. Waxing also removes all hairs from the root, causing the hair follicles to weaken over time, which eventually leads to less growth! Facial waxing also assists in the absorption of skincare, as no product is left on the surface surrounding the hairs.

What aftercare products do I need to get the best results from waxing?
We recommend Ingrostopper to soften the hair follicle and provide gentle exfoliation to all areas of the body prone to ingrown hairs. These areas may include, legs, arms, underarms, back, chest and bikini. We recommend Prep Exfoliating Body Scrub & Mask to exfoliate, and hydrate skin pre and post appointment. We understand the importance of a regular exfoliating and moisturising routine to keep a longer-lasting glow post-wax!
To keep your body hydrated and smooth for longer, we recommend Nourish Body Moisturiser with Hair Growth Minimiser. Children's Ear Piercing
Can I have my child's ears pierced with the needle method?
If you would prefer the needle method of piercing for your child’s earlobes, this is a service selected Essential Beauty salons offer for an additional cost.
There are benefits to both piercing methods. Essential Beauty promotes our Sterilear Piercing System over needle piercing for young children and babies. This is because it is a faster method, creating an easier experience for your child’s first piercing. Our Sterilear system is contactless; sterilised jewellery is very quickly inserted into the ear lobe via our push through hand piece.
This is comparative to our needle piercing method. This method takes longer because the piercing needs to be done first, leaving a plastic sheath in the ear that the jewellery is then threaded through. Not all children and babies can sit still long enough for this to occur quickly.
The benefit to needle piercings is having the option of getting pierced with a ring put in from the start. Rings can promote faster healing and is also easier for parents to clean, some parents may have difficulty cleaning behind the large butterfly backings on their children’s earrings. Rings are also comfortable for babies and small children to sleep in as the jewellery does not have any obstructions.

How do I book Children's Ear Piercing?
Online booking is not available for Children’s Ear Piercing as the service requires two staff members to be booked at the same time, please call your local salon to make an appointment.
Do you use numbing cream for children’s piercing?
We do not administer numbing cream for piercings as it can irritate the skin and become inflamed due to allergies which can affect the piercing. As the piercing is going through the ear, topical numbing cream will not numb the ear all the way through.
The piercing procedure itself is over in seconds, and most people say there is no pain. Children often cry or get scared when they become overwhelmed during the buildup before the piercing.
When can I change my child’s jewellery?
It is best to leave the initial piercing jewellery in until the initial healing period has passed. The average healing time for ear lobes is 6-8 weeks, this is a guide and may vary between each individual. We have such a huge range of different colours and styles available for Children’s Ear Piercing! It is important that you do not change jewellery before this period of time has passed, it is important to note that lobe piercings can take even longer to heal in some instances and it’s always best to check with a piercer in salon if you’re unsure.
If you are confident that the piercing has healed enough to change the jewellery over, it is important that you do not leave jewellery out of the piercing for long periods of time as the piercing can start to close almost immediately after the jewellery has been removed.

How long before my child can swim after getting their ears pierced?
Summer holidays are a popular time to get your child’s ears pierced. However, we recommend that your child steers clear from any swimming pools or the beach for the first 2 weeks after getting their ears pierced, to prevent bacteria from entering the new piercing.
If your child must go swimming, cover the piercing with a waterproof Band-Aid and spray the area with Sterilear Step 1: Clean afterwards to clean the piercing.
Is the Sterilear Piercing System safe?
Yes, our Sterilear Piercing System is safe to use for piercing the ear lobes. The Sterilear Contactless Push-Through System is contactless, meaning at no point does the device come into contact with your child’s ears. Needle piercing is an option if you prefer. How old does my child need to be before getting their ears pierced?
We recommend waiting until your child is at least 6 weeks old before getting their ears pierced, however, this does depend on the shape and size of your baby’s ears. If you are unsure if your child’s ears are ready to be pierced, we recommend asking one of our experienced Piercing Specialists in salon. There is no right age to get your child’s ears pierced, the right time is whenever you feel that they’re ready!
Laser & IPL
What types of hair can be treated?
Fine Vellus hairs cannot be treated with laser or IPL, regardless of their colour. This is the soft peach fuzz hair that often appears on women’s faces. It is best to opt for waxing – we recommend our full-face waxing with Sensitive Hot Wax for hair removal in that area.
Reasons to not get laser or IPL hair reduction
Factors that would prevent you from getting a laser or IPL treatment can include:
- Recent Sunburn
- History of Seizures
- Severe Eczema or Dermatitis in the treatment area
- Active infections
- Roaccutane use within the last 6 months
- Herpes 1 or 2 within the treatment area
- The use of any photosensitive medications, these can include antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, diuretics or retinoids
- Fake tan on the skin
- Extensive & recent sun exposure and change of skin colour
How old do I need to be to have laser or IPL hair reduction?
There are no age requirements for laser and IPL treatment. However, we recommend starting treatments post puberty because hormonal changes during this time can affect and stimulate hair growth. If you are unsure, please consult your parent, guardian or physician.
How many laser or IPL treatments will I need?
As a general rule, 8-10 sessions of hair removal, followed by biannual or yearly maintenance visits will be all you will need. However, each individual’s hair growth is different, so we cannot guarantee the amount of treatments needed.
Can I get laser or IPL if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Can I have laser or IPL on top of my tattoos?
No, laser or IPL cannot be used over any tattoos. The light from the laser will be attracted to the pigment in the ink and can cause the tattoo to fade, smudge, or in some cases, burn the skin. Waxing is safe to perform over tattoos.
Is laser and IPL permanent?
No laser or IPL can guarantee 100% permanent hair removal. Most clients will experience 70-90% hair reduction. Results are determined by the individual and can be influenced by skin type, area treated, hair growth pattern and hormones. We always recommend yearly or half yearly maintenance sessions after the completion of your treatment plan, as hormonal changes can cause hair to regrow.
How often do I need to get laser or IPL?
Depending on your hair density and area being treated, the time between sessions will vary. Generally, the time between treatments is 4-6 weeks. Your Beauty Therapist will give you an accurate treatment plan during your consultation.
Can everyone have laser and IPL hair reduction?
Not everyone is a candidate for laser or IPL hair reduction. The light that both methods emit is attracted to the dark pigment in the hair, which creates a targeted heat reaction, successfully ‘killing’ those hairs.
Blonde, grey or red hair does not contain the same amount of pigment, which means the heat reaction cannot be created. Skin colour can also be a factor in laser or IPL hair removal. The darker your skin tone, the more melanin (or pigment) you have. This means the laser cannot be targeted directly into the hair follicle, as it cannot differentiate between that pigment and the melanin in your skin. Your Beauty Therapist will assess your skin colour and tone, and can advise of a treatment plan or alternative hair removal methods.
Does laser or IPL hair reduction hurt?
Many clients have likened the sensation of laser or IPL as an elastic band being flicked against the skin. Comfort levels can vary due to the area being treated and your individual pain threshold.
Why do I need multiple laser sessions?
The hair all over our body is constantly shredding and regrowing. At any given time, the hairs on our body will be a mixture of actively growing, and hairs which are about to shed to make way from new growth, which look the same to the naked eye. Laser and IPL will only be effective on hairs which are actively growing. Because of this, with each session you will begin to notice your hair become ‘patchier’ in the treated area. Multiple sessions allow all hairs actively growing to be treated successfully.

What is henna brow tinting?
Natural henna brow colour is a form of eyebrow tinting that is used to stain the skin beneath the brow hairs. The purpose of this is to cast a shadow or create an illusion of depth and fullness in the area, visually filling in any sparseness. Henna can last anywhere from 4 days to 3 weeks on the skin. The length of time henna tinting lasts differs from person to person, and is dependent on how your skin reacts to the dye.
Henna works by coating the hairs, creating the look of thicker hair. Whereas, traditional tint makes the hair darker by breaking down the hair and penetrating colour in the hair follicles. Henna is an excellent option for over-plucked or sparse brows, or for anyone wanting full and even brows, as it temporarily stains the skin underneath the brow.
Should I tint my eyebrows if my hairs are already dark?
How long will a lash lift last?
Lash lifts are permanent for the full natural lash shedding cycle, which is typically 6-8 weeks. Your lashes will look their most dramatic during the first 4 weeks, but it is important to wait until your full lash cycle is over before having another lift. To keep your eyelashes looking amazing, we recommend getting another lash tint halfway through the life of your lash lift.

How long does lash and brow tinting last?
Eyebrow tinting lasts 2-3 weeks depending on the colour used. Darker colour tints generally last longer. Your tint will fade away naturally until you get your next tint. Lash tinting can last up to 4 weeks and is a great alternative to mascara.
